I Returned. Everything Felt Different.

I didn't plan to return. The truth was simple.

A dirt road in the middle of a forest

I didn't plan to return. Not then, not in that moment, not with the version of myself I had become. But something in me softened, a small shift, a quiet loosening, and suddenly going back didn't feel like undoing anything. It felt like checking the shape of the world again.

When I arrived, nothing looked changed. The same road. The same doorway. The same familiar stillness waiting in the air. But I felt different, and that made everything else different too.

I stood there longer than I meant to, letting the place settle around me. Letting myself settle inside it. I realised I wasn't returning to what I left, I was returning to see who I had become since learning.

The truth was simple. The place hadn't changed. I had.

And in that quiet recognition, something eased. The past didn't pull. The future didn't rush. The moment simply held me, gently, as if to say: You're allowed to come back. You're allowed to be new here.

I returned.

And for the first time, it felt like arriving.
